Who are we?
|
The Friends of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve were inaugurated on 17 April 2007 by members of
the Volunteer Rangers, with the intention of widening the involvement of the community in the
management and conservation of the Reserve.
Our stated aims include:- To protect, conserve, promote and enhance the natural environment of the
Reserve and encourage others to join us in this work, so that the value of the Reserve and its
wildlife is preserved and protected for future generations.
With this in mind it is our intention to continue the valuable conservation work and to undertake fund raising
for projects within the Reserve that otherwise might not come to fruition.
We shall also continue to support the Visitor Centre. The Friends contributed £300 towards its
refurbishment earlier this year.

The Nature Reserve
|
Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve is 345 hectares (852 acres) in size, starting at the East Hill
Lift in the west, stretching to the Firehills and Fairlight in the east. In between are
Ecclesbourne, Fairlight and Warren Glens. This offers such diverse habitats as wildflower
meadows, gill woodland, maritime cliffs and acid heathland and is why a large part of it
has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
